Movies in Review: Snow White And The Huntsman

So this weekend I saw Snow White and the Huntsman one of the summer movies on my radar (you can see the post and watch the trailer here).

I loved the story line of the movie, while it followed the tale of Snow White it had some minor differences that added to the movie. For instance Snow White leads her people to try to defeat the evil queen. There are various others but I don't want to give spoilers for the movie.

The special effects and filming of this movie were breathtaking! The creatures were computer generated but it did not look like it at all to me. All of the computer generated creatures that they encounter are so creative and lifelike. I hate seeing movies with horrible CGI. If you do not know what I am talking about watch any made for SyFy movie. Then you will understand my hatred for CGI when used incorrectly.

Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth were amazing in this movie. The Evil Queen gave me chills in ever scene she was in. Her lust for power and beauty was terrifying. The Huntsman was full of guilt and loss that he was a character you pulled for from the beginning. You wanted him to win everything, even Snow White.

 Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman

Charlize Theron as Ravenna the Evil Queen

Now to the part that I disliked about the movie: Kristen Stewart's acting. She made a great Snow White, she fit the profile for how she looks. What did not fit was her acting, it was really hard to be invested emotionally when she looked distracted and uninvolved in scenes that required sadness or pain. Even when she rallied her people I was unmotivated as an audience member.

Other than that one problem this movie is still worth seeing for everything else that I mention. I still loved this movie and would see it again.

What movies did you see this weekend?

I agree with you SO MUCH here! Kristen Stewart might as well have been dead for the emotion that she portrayed. But everything else was really good except, you know , the title character. lol ;)

Right Devin and I both agreed that if it were someone like Ashley Greene it would have pushed it over the top!
